Add some notes here, Mikheyev is there to free up space to resign Guentzel. Which is also why the 2nd is in there, kind of a payment for taking on his contract. He's still a full serviced winger and would do decently in Pittsburgh, not fully a cap dump.
The "prospect" could really be any of the 20-23 year olds, besides the remaining 2 untouchables. Canucks see this roster has a window until 2026, when Huggy and Demmer are up. While I don't think we'll lose them to UFA, locking them up long term will cost some bag. So while we have the ability to compete "cheaply" in the next 3 years do it. Guentzel would be a great fit with Miller and Boeser I think. Leaving EP40 to do his thing on his own line like he has all season.
So essentially look at the trade like this:
Canucks acquire a top 6 winger, who potentially could resign and be here for a 3 year window to compete for a Stanley Cup. As well as freeing up 4.75m in cap space. For 2 early, but next seasons picks, and a player who has not cracked our lineup yet. And likely needs a change.
