Buch Value is fine, but I think a trade would have to focus on bringing in something that projects better as a top 4d. So Ohtmann could be substituted for a different piece.

The ask for dowd is a 1st and there are multiple teams reportedly ready to do that so not sure why the caps would sell to a divisional rival for less

I'd do this. Yes ideally Blues would want a dman prospect but Ohtmann projects to be a NHLer someday. Blues will need a winger to replace Buch. Know they have more coming but a lot of the dead weight will not be on team next year.

I'd also make stipulation that the 26 pick could not be protected since it is so far out.

I agree. I would probably do this too, but it would depend on what else surfaces around the league.
