Doesn't trading Crosby for a roster player completely defeat the purpose of...acquiring a roster player to help Crosby win?

If Pittsburgh were to move Crosby (which, they're at least a full year away from even considering it), it's to officially signal the start of the rebuild and get as many futures as possible. Trading for a "helps you now" guys doesn't make sense if you're also trading out the guy you're looking to help.

Mitch is 26 and will be elite for the next 8 years. If your rebuild takes longer than that you've made a series of unfortunate mistakes.
