He still has to waive his NTC to go to that team. being linked means a team is interested and that there is a prospective fit, not that its open season on a trade offer. Vlad was always (and rightfully so) going to pick 1, maybe 2 teams he would accept a trade to as was his contractual right. He was doing his own due diligence on where he would have liked to go when he hired a new agent mid-season. Pretty simply he chose Florida when they emerged as suitors

I'm talking about the article that says Senko would waive to a contender... How did you interpret that...

And links to guys with full NMCs for as long as those teams were to Senko means that player must have at least considered waiving... Otherwise, you'll have the Kane to TO/EDM links that died down so quickly bc Kane would not waive to either team

because its not untrue that he might have gone somewhere else if Flordia did not emerge as a suitor, but they did and he is there as a result. If he didnt get moved to flordia then he would have chosen somewhere else and we would be having this trade return discussion anyways but with another team

And you're saying that before Florida emerged, there would have been a better package on the table going to Ottawa?

And Florida was mentioned, I believe

not necessarily, just that he would have waived his NTC to go to a (different) contender

Meaning there would have been competition and the price would have been above a 3rd and a 4rth...

In other words Ottawa could have gotten a better package if their GM didn't get greedy...

no because tarasenko still has to actually accept a trade to the team trying to trade for him lol. There is no indication that if Flordia didn't emerge as the winner, that he wouldn't have just (in theory and for example) forced his way to Edmonton with his NTC. Then Edmonton would have had all the leverage similar to Florida where he did end up and Ottawa probably gets an equally as poor return.

Tarasenko hired Craig Oster mid-season, and realistically he did that to help himself figure out which teams would be interested at the TDL. He knew where he wanted to go the whole time

So, you're suggesting that all those teams linked to him, Tarasenko willing to waive to a contender (report) are both false?

I'll follow the insiders connecting Senko and the more realistic story of teams starting to back out, especially when Guentzel became available and forced OTT into panic mode...

No lol, you're confusing *a* with *any*. A is singular, as in one team. Any is multiple, as in any team. The articles said a (singular) cup contender, not any cup contender.

"a" meaning he can only get traded to one contender... You're confused on the wording
