Genuine question for Pens fans -- do you think the team will be better next year and that is why you'd rather give up the 2025 unprotected first? Is the plan to use the '24 first to improve the team at the draft via trade? or use it to try and select a player who could make an impact in a year or two?

Not going to say Bains and Juulsen can't be had but I don't think we'd have much interest in Smith unless we are planning on signing Marchesault in the off season.
