The Sabres pass. They need an RD2 at least, not lose an LD1/LD1A.

Sabres aren't very big on Sides, 3/4 of there D can play both sides.

Byrum was acquired from the Avalanche with the intention of filling the need on RD. If he is not the answer to RD, then the Sabres need to make additional moves.

Having many defensemen that can play both sides is a great idea. Having a defensive top two RD that clears the puck out of the zone is better. What is Kevym Adams doing besides nothing to acquire that defenseman?

Yes. If a LD is acquired to fill a heavy LD depth, then another LD needs to leave.

Dahlin can play RD very well, we still have Joker, Clifton. And Ryan Johnson is good on his off hand. Could use a banger but hopefully that's next.
