I don’t know that using one of the few remaining assets for a guy that doesn’t necessarily profile well for them at 4C is the answer. I think the only thing they do today is a third goalie. But what just dawned on me is COL was in on Tanev and I think they turned down the Walker trade, and that the Mittlestadt trade has been agreed upon but was contingent on them getting a replacement for Byram.

At this point, I would think the Avs' focus would have to be goalie and maybe depth D, but what do I know? The Trenin and Duhaime moves already create a "who do you play" situation, even as the moves have allowed for great depth. To think guys like Wood and Duhaime could be scratched is crazy to me. Why bring in guys who cause chaos, add toughness, and are pains to play against just to scratch them, but it's a good problem to have.

Yap. It was going around that Colorado wanted Tanev. They were in on him for sure. It's rumored that one team involved (not sure who) offered Calgary a 1st but they wanted them to eat a contract as well. That team may have very well been the Avs asking them to eat RyJo, the exact package that Philly got. Walker was simply the next best option.
