The end is near. We have to face either Bennett or Marchand and our stars seem afraid of them. With no fighters added, I guess we have to hope and pray the stars finally grow and realize they are better players and capable to actually controlling games and winning. #crossingfingers

I am fine without them. It would have cost us a lot and really how much would they have improved us. Hertl would look like Bertuzzi with little playing time. Hanifin was unwilling to resign and yes Mantha could have been nice but that is a if the fit worked. Vegas keeps going all in every year, yet the only year they won they added barabanov only. Watch Vegas lose this year for the holy grail, and either core player to resign hanifin or let hanifin walk. Their core is I jury prone and thus how much longer will they compete. They are placing a lot of hope in Hertl and Eichel leading a future charge uninjured with little replacements for stone, Karlsson, Marchessault etc ...

Frustrating though considering that Matthews might score 70 and the Leafs have a good chance to be a 1rst round exit

That is true, and I do agree we need a true top 3 defenseman to really augment this lineup. A better all around center to replace Domi is nice too. But there was slim pickings this year. Better to keep the picks, prospects core. If next year looks better, we have a few more picks in 2027 with more prospects to look better. Dubas handcuffed us too. Heard we got a 24 year 10 goal scorer in Dewar, that is good business.

Meh... Dewar's like trading for another Nic Robertson but more towards the net and less talent and slightly older...

For a 4th, I think that is a good add. He is a center man plays most of the his minutes on pk and defensive end. To score 10 goals shows he has more potential and can play defense. Is a minor pick for a player with more potential.

Meh... He proves it, I'll buy into it... But was really hoping Tre would have made a bigger move involving Chycrun or Buch or smg

I agree would have been nice. But the odds of trading with Ottawa for a decent price with Chychrun is low. More since Staios stated he'd prefer to keep Chychrun than trade. Buchnevixlc was never really available... Etc. .. thats the problem with these deals, we love to assume of players available and the GM will trade them but it's never actually true. A player like Chychrun was the type of top 3 defenseman that I can actually helping us. Term at a low cost for another year. Unfortunately Dubas thought trading for O'Reilly and McCabe, and Schenn was better last year. Personally I think we would have been better with McCabe and Chychrun only but yep!

Zadorov trade, Lindholm trade were decent deal for Vancouver

Guentzel trade as well was cheap

But also goes based on cap space. At the time we had no space. We made Tre move on Klingberg which even in hindsight makes sense. (If you get half of what Klingberg was for Dallas then you have a good top four right handed dman. Yea big failure there and I think if we waited could have maybe signed for less. Thus is the business though. Guentzel the top player Dubas wanted was his right hand man bunting, who would we have trade for a rental in Guentzel as we can't resign him.

I'm just saying, teams will take the best offer, no matter the team

That is true but value on prospects matter. I agree with not nltrading knies, Cowan, and minten. Keep them as they currently look more valuable to us. Last thing we need is a verhague and 4 others traded for nothing. Not fully regretting the delay because there was sense at the time but we need a gm that considers all potential. So far, treliving seems to actually do that. We even traded durzi and others too under Dubas. Treliving has his mistakes no argument but in hi Dwight other than a 3 year deal on Reaves I can argue as a good risk sadly Reaves looks better on a 1 year deal, Domi looks close to his deal, if we pay for overall play not points then Bert is worth it bus sadly his points is way less that it should for a 5 million playerz Klingberg proved injured and unable to come close to his Dallas days, yep ii can go on about the hindsight failures.
