Standing Pat

Created by: Big_Rock_Brock
Team: 2023-24 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 8, 2024
Published: Mar. 8, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In years past I have been furious when the Islanders have stood pat but honestly I do not mind it this year. The boys are playing well, they deserve to be rewarded for it instead of someone losing their job. Roy has got this group to believe in each other again and even if they dont win the cup I think Roy is building a real solid foundation here that will really explode (in a good way) next season. I would be surprised if the Isles dont move that 1st round pick at the draft to give Roy a new toy to play with with an entire training camp instead of disrupting the room or lines right now.

Rosters expand and Isles have the ability to call up as many as that want now (as long as they stay under cap). I think Gauthier or Fasching should play 4th line over Martin. Wahlstrom won’t be waived yet, could still see him being a throw in to something done over the summer

eh theyve all been playing really well lately, 3 straight wins against the top teams in the League, 5 in total. Dont think you punish anyone for that. Zucker isnt worth disrupting the chemistry they have rn

They need goal scoring bad. If chemistry was disrupted by making only one move for a 3rd line winger, TDL wouldn't be a thing. Stop rationnalizing your GM lack of action.

watch the team before you get snippy. all 4 lines have been playing their best hockey all season. they've been the best defensive team in the NHL since Roy took over in xG/60 and are top 5 in expected goals rate. why would you disrupt that for 'jason zucker'

Keep expecting goals, they won't come with that roster in the playoffs.

So Zucker has too much impact or not enough? You're confusing. He's a 25 goals scorer close to free, sue me.

Why try to improve your weakness, even at a low cost, if you can't go all the way, right?

Try nothing, expect failure. Such a good life lesson. Thanks.

my exact point is the team is playing well why would u get him. everyone is clicking getting zucker isnt moving the needle to decide if they go to the cup or not. are you Zucker's father or something i never seen someone go to bat for a middle 6 winger like this in my life tears of joy

So the team is playing too well while not being a contender, and any trade would destroy chemistry while having no significant impact at the same time.

Great case of blowing hot and cold here.
