Additional Details:
Since, Fitzgerald & Trots are close they can work the trade details out this summer by means of a gentlemans agreement, but inact the trade in December. This would make Saros more of a Trade rental being closer to the seaons trade deadline, which get less return. Equally, Trotz agrees to this because his Preds start the season with Saros as starter taking Askarov under his wing before Saros goes to NJ & Askarov becomes starter in Nashville.

Not a big fan of moving Marino for Gudas…mismatch of styles. And there are cheaper ways to add physicality. If we are sacrificing possession game for meat and potatoes…that means a weaker Hughes, Bratt, etc too.

We need better puck skills on blueline…I’d move Bahl if anyone.

What stats do you use to determine possession? I know most people go by Total Minutes per game, +/-, Goal Differential, & eXpected Goals Differential.
•Gudas & Marino played basically equal mins. per gm.
-Gudas: 18.4% Shift Starts in Defensive Zone
-Marino: 17.7% Shift Starts in Defensive Zone
-Gudas: On-Ice xGoal Differential of -15.7
-Marino: On-Ice XGoal Differential of -16.8

-Marino has the worse Goal Differential of all NJ's D.
-Out of the 252 defenders w/ at least 200mins. of playing time this season Marino is ranked 5th worse in Goal Differential at -39! He isn't expected to allow that many goals against, maybe it's bad luck, idk, yet for whatever reason it's bad when he actually is on ice.
-Gudas is -14 (Average for a Def.D w/ mostly Dzone starts & is on 3rd worse NHL Team.)
-Gudas: 11 Takeaways (Average)
-Gudas: 33 Giveaways (Average)
-Marino has 34 Takeaways, (Very Good #20th Best!)
-Marino has 23 give aways (Average)
-Gudas: +/- of +11 in 58 Games (Good)
-Marino: +/- of -10 in 63 Games (Bad)

▪︎Maybe there is a better player to trade for, but Gudas having 1 year less term & like a ½ a Mil cheaper I rather have him because of the grit & intensity he brings to the team proving it by always Top 5 in Most Hits & Top 25 in Most Blocked Shots. Marino creates more turnovers but to me he lacks the high skill outlet stretch or saucer passes like Severson made, which wete highly effective on a fast skilled NJ team. Was happy to learn Luke is ranked #21 in Takeaways, but Luke has the speed & skilled stick handeling+feet to to gain O-Zone possesion by taking it in himself, which Marino can't. For those reasons I rather Gudas who is more skilled defensively than Marino. I for sure agree that NJ needa a Dman with great puck skills, specifically someone who can make those crisp stretch passes or long football like saucer bombs. I just want that player to also be defensively sound + physical, but don't know who that is.

I agree, I recently created a different post, similiar to this one, but in the Marino for Gudas Trade I had NJ also gives ANA a 2nd or 3rd & either a B Prospect OR a late round pick. I swear to you like 100 delusional losers wrote how insane I am because Gudas is trash Gudas & it was HUGE overpay for him saying how amazing Marino is. They all based Marino's supposed greatness off of ONE Season last year. Ironically, everyone replying said, Marino's having a down season because everyone on the Devils are having down year. I replied it's ironic that NJ is an average team this year, yet last year when Marino played great NJ was above average where everything just clicked. NJ had their best season in Franchise History, so I said isn't it more likely Marino's outlier season was last year not this year lol. Still, there was minimum 10 likes for each reply of these fools saying who cares about hits & grit. I had to break down how Gudas a Densive D makes ½M less than Marino is better on defense Top5 in Hits Top 25 in blocked Shots & Marino is non existence in either, as well as Marino is soft where Gudas brings intensity clearing the crease, protecting his goalie after whistle, & keeping opponents in check by fighting when necassary. Last, multiple people said, possession is way more important than the hits / grit Gudas brings, so I look into all possession stats: Gudas & Marino have about the same Total Minutes played this season, Gudas on 3rd worse NHL team is a +11, while Marino is a -10 & Marino & Gudas both had average GA's, but Marino is #20 in TA's this year, fine, but the best possession stat is On Ice Goal Differential where Gudas has average Goal Diff. for a Defensive D with 18.8% D-Zone Starts, but Marino has the 5th WORSE Goal Differential in the entire NHL bahahaha he is Ranked #745 out of #749!!!
-Now that I was able to shake a bunch of ignorant commentors who bashed me & my actual facts a couple days ago... what do you think would be a legit Gudas/Marino trade?
