Team: 2024-25 Washington Capitals

Description
This is a simulated result of what trades/signings were made in our GHL GM League for a simulated off-season.

GM's were tasked with the job of getting their team ready for the season. They had to stay within the salary cap restrictions and must have a maximum of 6 players on the Taxi Squad for injury relief purposes.

Your job is to comment and evaluate how the GM managed their team.

Questions to answer:
1. What was the best move made by the GM?
2. What was the worst move made by the GM?
3. Did the GM improve the team or make them worse?

Thank you for playing! Our GHL GM League is played for a couple of months then posted on CapFriendly for everyone to see the results made by the GM's!

Malenstyn is not getting that much money. Duchene contract isn't bad but I would be so wary for both the team and for him being outside of Dallas where he only really has to be their like 8th best forward. Di Guessepi is fine but can get guys like him internally or through UFAs. Would be surprised if Leonard doesn't sign.

More generally though, it would be a massive disappointment if the Caps leave 5.5m in space and don't upgrade the defense at all. They have a ton of room and assets to make some real swings this summer, and while once again I like Duchene and that contract running back literally the exact same team as this year with Pacioretty swapped out for Duchene isn't good enough
Missouri liked this.
