Blues Potential Targets

Created by: StDetroitBlueWings
Team: 2024-25 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2024
Published: Mar. 26, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is just to determine asking price.

Blues could use a 2C. Really only Stephenson fits that in free agency this year, so plan B?
1LD is another need, but would need to move one of Krug and/or Leddy to make that happen I would bet.

Other options are to target younger "change of scenery" guys. Low risk and high reward
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Danault, Phillip
Additional Details:
What's the cost? A few players to sign and deep at center
LAK
2.
STL
  1. Kakko, Kaapo [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Wonder how optics on him have changed. Still a candidate to be traded, especially if they don't think they can resign him? Buchnevich 2.0?
NYR
3.
STL
  1. Samuelsson, Mattias
Additional Details:
Deal involving these two? Buffalo has 4654549831 LD and could use a veteran presence on the blue line
BUF
  1. Faulk, Justin
Additional Details:
Base of deal. Add other players as needed (retention is most likely not happening)
4.
STL
  1. Hague, Nicolas
  2. Roy, Nicolas
Additional Details:
Wouldn't mind either of these. Roy a 2C, Hague next to Parayko would be intriguing as well. Asking price for Roy would be high I imagine
VGK
5.
STL
  1. Berggren, Jonatan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Snag a younger guy for cheap?
DET
6.
STL
  1. Lundell, Anton [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Are they going to be able to sign him? Currently around 20mil to sign at least 10 guys. Potentially trade for his RFA Rights

Well…. the Sabres sure aren’t doing that BS

We need a “shut down” RD type
And even though we have EXTRA LD,
we aren’t gonna trade the guy we could use MORE OF,
for an OLD guy with a big Cap Hit who will always be more of an “offensive” guy than a “defensive” one

I’m sorry, but how the fudge does that make ANY sense???

The fall off of talent after the 1st is drastic….this isn’t the NFL where you can find NHL talent in the 4th round as likely

Also they’re trying to win now so futures are irrelevant

Exactly my point

Doubt Adams trades 6 yrs of a young D for 3 yrs at around 50% higher cap hit besides some 8 yrs difference in age.
If Samuelsson is traded, being a young guy who hasn't reached his prime yet it will be for a young RHD in the same age range.
If Adams trades for an older experienced RHD he's not giving up a young guy like Samuelsson
