Kane for Spooner straight, no pick, no conditional picks just a 1 for 1 deal.

I like ON3M4N's suggested deal. I heard that Kane is not a good locker room influence though, so I wouldn't exactly want him to be the guy the rookies look to for guidance.

I'm not too worried about him in the locker room. He's certainly not a guy you want younger players looking up to or being mentored by, but I'm sure he'd have some advice on things not to do lol. Boston has a solid leadership group in place between guys Bergy, Chara, Krejci and Backes that I wouldn't worry about Kane's presence in the locker room. IMO though he's a 1 and done as he'll want to cash in and test free agency.

Agreed so why even bother!? We lose a 1st/2nd round pick AND Spoons for Kane staying for a cup of coffee???? I say stay where you are Kane

I wouldn't offer a pick ask them to retain. Kane has the skill and talent of an impact player. On a bad Buffalo team he was more productive than Spooner was and playing with Krejci/Pasta could really open his game up. Its a gamble, but you're doing it knowing that unless he's changed his off ice ways, he'll be a rental. I put Spooner's value at a 2nd rounder and I'd give up a 2nd for 1 year of Kane.
