Projected Lineup, If no moves are made

Created by: HockeySen
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 21, 2017
Published: Jul. 21, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Beleskey has a been a healthy scratch for so many games, it's likely he won't be in the starting lineup, at least on opening day. JFK does seem like he needs time in PRO, in which case they could call up Debrusk or sign a winger such as Stafford or Vanek. Spooner gets a bridge deal to prove himself.

The third line is one of the worst 5 on 5 in the league. Spooner was a healthy scratch in the playoffs he has to go.

You obviously don't read the descriptions. The title of the thing is "If no moves are made" I specifically said in the description that the third line was likely to change if Spooner proves he's not good enough and if JFK needs to go to PRO.

Bels was hurt quite a bit last year and really was only scratched for 8 regular season game and 3 playoff games. I do agree with ajc though, that is a terrible 3rd line. If no other moves were made I'd consider something like....

Marchand - Bergeron - Bjork
Vatrano - Krejci - Pastrnak
Kuraly - Spooner - Backes
Beleskey - Nash - Acciari

I also wouldn't rule out DeBrusk in which case he could got #2LW and Vatrano moves to #3LW, which means Bells, Acciari & Kuraly rotate on the 4th line.

Not bad, but I would put DeBrusk in for Kuraly, he proved himself in Providence last year. I would also put in Heinen for Bjork. Same reason. I know everybody is high on Bjork because he did well on "Team America", but he needs to learn to play pro hockey before he goes to the big club. The Canadian is more deserving of that shot....

Bjork is going to get a look to start the season barring an injury. Boston offered him a top6 spot last year for the end of the regular season and playoff run. One of the selling points the B's had to get him to leave early was playing a top 6 role. While he very well may end up in Providence after the year starts, he'll start the year in BOS. The coaching staff loves him and raves about him.

We shall see. He's going to have to prove himself that's for sure. I think everybody is kind of playing "homey" because they want the American kid to play. Cassidy and Sweeney will like the dependability of Heinen just as much as Bjorks talent. Both will fight hard for that spot. I don't think it matters if he left early or not. He didn't play in the stretch run or the playoffs. Heinen has proved himself at the pro level, Bjork has not.

Not sure any of our young guys have proven themselves. Scoring less than a PPG doesn't mean much in the AHL. Ryan Spooner was nearly a PPG player in the AHL from 2012-2014 and look how he turned out. A half ppg type player. Heinen's 44 points in 64 games projects to a total closer to being in the 30's point wise. Heinen did nothing in the NHL last season as well. Going O'fer in 8 games is kinda hard to do. You'd figure a puck would hit off him and go in, or he'd make an average pass that led to a 2nd assist, but none of that happened. I'm not going to count on any of our young guys being top end players year 1. I think they'll struggle to keep up, but hopefully no-one who makes the team at the start of the season ends up being sent down.

That's dumb thinking. Hopefully a couple make it and they will be fine. Heinen carried the P Bruins in the playoffs, that's the sign of a good player. Bruins have too many prospects, that's the problem!!!

DeBrusk and Bjork will have good shots too!!! The next generation is here for the Bruins!!!! Not even counting McAvoy and Carlo who are also still kids!!!!!
