Habs Young Blood

Created by: Duggysdanglers
Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2024
Published: Apr. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What do the Habs target at the draft? What do they need the most. I’d say BPA. They definitely need a game breaking offensive talent.
I dumped all of the vets on AZ to just show the young guys.
Not 100% on the RFA deals.

With Guhle, Hutson, Struble et al. on the left and Reinbacher, Mailloux and Barron on the right, I wouldn't be interested in a defenseman. I think a center like Cayden Lindstrom or Berkly Catton would be ideal for Montreal. (I know some Habs fans have the hots for Ivan Demidov but even if he fell like Michkov did last year, I'd stay away from him.)

Why not Demidov? I like those 2 C’s you mentioned.

No logical reason -- just a gut feeling. Kravtsov, Podkolzin, the reluctance to select Michkov when he was touted as a #2 overall possibility . . . there's just something about Russian prospects that feels inherently risky. And there are, or should be, great alternatives at #7. The risk-reward ratio might change around #11, but until then, I'd find someone else.
