Rather just sit through Mayfield contract, he is still ok enough to be a 6D and his buyout will probably be easier. Doubt blues do that

For the Blues, I'd rather get a 2024 1st and a defensive prospect, however, the value is there so I'd probably accept if no other team has an offer that fits the Blues better.

Okay, here's the deal. You've obviously offered good value, and an unprotected 25 1st is tempting, but it's not quite the right value. I think you'd have a better chance with a 24 1st (provided you don't somehow win the lottery and pick 6th or something), a 25 2nd and someone like Odelius. Honestly, though, I'm not sure that does the trick, either.

Oof... I don't know if I'd want Odelius as 'the prospect involved'. I liked Odelius in his draftyear, however he hardly played this season due to a broken ankle. Nelson, on the other hand, probably isn't the shiny toy we are all hoping for, however he does hit a lot of boxes; He's a typical high floor, lower-ish ceiling guy, good workethic, decent shot, can play both offense and defense... It's almost imperative he's going to be a useful bottom 6 forward some day.

I'm not saying he's a guy I'd personally be asking for in a trade if I was the GM of the Blues, but based on trades/drafts in the past he's a guy you'd expect the Blues would target.

Like I said, Odelius isn't going to be a centerpiece and that package probably would get them nowhere. The 1st would be the main piece. He is, however, much more a need than Nelson, who is very similar to Dean and a couple other C prospects we have.

But yeah, I doubt the Isles have the right pieces.
