That's a pretty good lineup, but I don't think they can pass the Canes

I think it depends on 5v5 and depth scoring. I do think that they will have a tough time getting out of the divison

I don’t know why people care so much about 5v5 stats. The days of needing an elite 5v5 are over

Last year the Panthers had below 50% xGF% at 5v5 and in 2021 Tampa rode Vasi and special teams

It matters because of the fact that you play most of the game at 5v5. Unless you have a HOF goaltender you're not going to be able to just rely on goaltending and special teams to save your ass in the playoffs.

And I just provided examples of two teams who went far without elite 5v5 analytics lol

Igor is as good as Vasi and the Rangers can go as far as the Panthers did

Also rangers have no depth scoring?

Since the TDL:
Kakko, brodzinski, goodrow, cuylle, vesey and Wennberg combine for 12 goals 24 points at 5v5

KK, Drury, Necas, Noesen, Kuz, Fast, and Lemieux combine for 5 goals 17 points at 5v5

So you compared a bunch of fourth-liners and healthy scratches (Excluding Necas and Kuzy) against a bunch of third-liners... that's a great comparison.

Hurricanes current bottom six at 5v5 since TDL: 9 goals, 32 points at 5v5
Rangers current bottom-six at 5v5 since TDL: 10 goals, 23 points at 5v5

Both of those teams fit into my exception that you needing a HOF quality goaltender to escape being a poor 5v5 team... you clearly didn't read you just reacted
Igor has had a down year... he's not been exactly been giving the rangers HOF level goaltending

You act like the Rangers are so bad lmao it must kill you inside 😂

By the way, the Canes only have 4 more 5v5 goals than the rangers on the season. But yea the rangers suck at 5v5..weird

Igor is literally as good as Vasi and Bob….. look at his playoff stats too lol he been arguably the best goalie in the playoffs back to back years

Ahhh yes Bob putting .901 save % and 3 GAA during the regular season last year is HOF numbers lmao

It's hard to project what goalies will do in the postseason (or in general) so we don't really know what's going to happen
But here's the facts... both of the Hurricanes current goalies are having better statistical seasons than Igor

The Hurricanes have let in 20 fewer goals at 5v5 than the Rangers... that's the other part of this
The Rangers score less at 5v5 than their Opponents and are below water in xGF% and HDCF%... but sure keep telling me that the Rangers are good at 5v5

You just said those two teams had HOF goaltending and the rangers do not because of Igor’s down year? Lol I guess you didn’t even both to look at Bob’s recent stats before his playoff run

Igor is sporting a .930 save % and seems to know how to turn it on when he gets to the playoffs. Hot goaltending is the similarity between most of the recent cup winners

I never said they were good, but again 5v5 isn’t the whole game. Special teams , finishing your shots and goaltending are a huge part of hockey today

But I’d rather the rangers be the underdogs since everyone is sleeping on them. They are their own worst enemy

I never said that the Rangers weren't good but they do have some pretty noticeable flaws.

Their goaltending had HOF track records before those post-seasons... Igor doesn't have that yet. Sometimes hot goaltending just ends up flaming out... just ask Alex Lyon, Linus Ullmark and Igor from last year.

Yea so does every other playoff team in the league… no team is perfect and unbeatable

Igor has been a top 3 goalie pretty much since coming into the league lmao his Vezina season and playoff stats speak for itself

My main problem isn't with the Rangers or the fanbase it's with the way the team is constructed... relying on elite goaltending and finishing just isn't a good way to build team

I mean if I could control how the team is built, I’d make them better at 5v5

But all their players are locked in with term and no one will be moved, so the recipe for success is built around elite finishing, goaltending and special teams
