Is it necessary to fight for a playoff spot when a part of youre future core might not be ready yet (Reinbacher, Hutson, 2024 1st rounder, …)

Patience!

Fighting for the playoffs when you're currently in a 2 year rebuild, No team has ever made the playoffs in a 2 year rebuild. Montreals not even the 4th or 5th best in the Atlantic let alone in both Atlantic and Metro.

And David Perron is more than likely remaining in Detroit for another year or two.

…… Adding Perron and Beauvillier is going to get you to the playoffs?

I really don't get adding Beauvillier, a few years ago I thought he'd be worth adding, but giving him basically the same deal as Armia after scoring 5 goals split between 3 teams... yikes
Perron just doesn't make sense either, veteran leadership aside what does he bring that'll help the team? Montreal have leaders already, they have an abundance of middle/bottom 6 forwards, why would they sign 2 more to multi-year contracts knowing they already are in a bit of a logjam. This would be like signing 2 top 4 LHDs who can't play on the right and will be retire before their contracts end, just wasting roster spots and money on pointless acquisitions. Josh Roy is ready to play full-time, scratching Anderson just won't happen, he's been so bad this season and hasn't been benched once, management have faith he'll turn it around and will keep playing him until they can't, and just like that Perron and Beau's spots are filled, with guys such as Farrell, Tuch, Heineman, Andersson and Gignac in the AHL who all could have NHL spots next year if they have strong training camps
