Guentzel Probably Walks

Created by: batman
Team: 2024-25 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 16, 2024
Published: Apr. 16, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Drury = Evans Comp At 3x1.7M

Lock up both Necas and Jarvis. I feel like this would be fair. Comp = Boldy Caufield Svechnikov.

There’s clearly a big hole at center. Go fix that in FA. I think Lindholm would blend very well with Carolina

You just have to keep one of Pesce/Skjei. Pesce probably walks. Would resign Brady. Burns is probably leaving next year and who knows with Orlov. Cant let both Pesce and Skjei walk. You would lose all of your top4 dmens.

Sign Someone like Kulikov or Miller on a 1yr to fill that 3RD spot.

Nadeau makes a lot of sense as a in house replacement for Guentzel if he walks. He has a great shot and a lot of potential. I think putting him with talented playmakers like Aho and Jarvis could do a lot of good.

I’d probably sign Jarvis to that, Necas not so much. I got a feeling they’re gonna draw a hard line with what they’re willing to give Necas, and he’ll end up getting dealt. They have Blake who you’re playing above him and I’d hope they’d get another decent forward prospect in return.

Bringing back Skjei doesn’t make sense bc we have Orlov and then Nikishin coming after next year. We’d either be paying a 3rd pair defenseman 6 mil or forcing a rookie with 1st pair potential to the 3rd pair. But I do agree that just letting both walk without doing anything about it is a bad idea. I would rather pick up a short term replacement for Pesce to round out the top 4. (Tanev maybe?)

Lindholm would be a great fit (been saying that for the past like 2 years now) despite his down year. I do feel like some GM is gonna be dumb enough to give him over 7 long term, but I don’t mind 6x6 if we can get that done or something around that. Stephenson could also be a target, I think he would be a good fit as well.

As a sharks fan I want nothing to do with that JK contract, he just hasn’t earned it for me and maybe he explodes here but more than likely he regresses with a weaker supporting cast abd just ends up blocking a younger better prospect from making the team. Sorry but even if you add picks I would still pass
