Description
Lots of text, sorry.

First off, I'm terrible at FA contracts. I went with my best guesses. I assume we'll have to overpay in money and/or years to get guys here.

Two goals here. First is to make us harder to play against and give our young guys a better environment to grow. If you think there are too many vets blocking the young guys, I can only say that I would love to be in the position where guys like Sturm, Benning or even Ferraro are being traded mid season because a young player pushed into their spot. I also left open a roster spot for young guys. Don't worry about Thrun being scratched. I expect there to be some good competition for the bottom 3 D spots with those guys all swapping in and out.

Second is marketing. There aren't many players still playing from the Sharks competitive days, but adding a few familiar faces to the roster will be good for our team identity as the youngsters start to take over. Pavs isn't even a pipe dream at this point, but he'd obviously be the best choice for this.

Player Choices:
Mantha - Adds size to our top six and scored 23 goals this year. We'll give him more minutes than other teams maybe?
Demelo - We need an offensive defensemen and he's a clear upgrade over anyone in the Sharks system.
Dillon - Size, character, makes us harder to play against
Goodrow - Mostly taking on a cap dump, but also a familiar face/character guy
Stenlund - Size, penalty kill, makes us harder to play against, Swedish. No idea what he'll cost, gave him a Sturm-like contract.

I used LTIR for the players I think will be traded or sent down this offseason.

Vlasic buyout is mostly to free up a roster spot.

Sure, just a stand in really. Perri pick calculator put 3 years of 3.6m hit at an 18 OA pick value, and I figure NYR 25 1st will be lower than that. It doesn't matter though, it's more about the idea of a Goodrow dump being beneficial to SJ in a few ways beyond just the return.

The buyout will be more beneficial to NYR. If the dump is cheaper then that could be done

Or simply retain 1-1.2m on Goody and get that return without a 1st.
IF we need his cap next year, although he is important

Ya most fans don’t realize his value, they just see his stats and cap hit for the line he plays on.
