Steal: Great value for pick
Solid: Good player, not quite a steal
Decent: Not great, not bad
Disappointment: Not worth the pick, but still had a decent career
Bust: Never made the NHL / sucked in the NHL / had a short career

1. Nail Yakupov (Edmonton Oilers from Columbus Blue Jackets) (Details: Bust, only lasted 5 years in the NHL, even been underwhelming since going to the KHL, where he still plays now).
2. Ryan Murray (Columbus Blue Jackets) (Details: Disappointment, injuries ruined him, was good for a while, 10 years in the NHL, currently a free agent).
3. Alex Galchenyuk (Montreal Canadiens) (Details: Disappointment, was good for a few years and then bounced around a lot, never worked out after leaving Montreal, now in the KHL although would likely be a fringe NHLer had his incident not happened in July).
4. Griffin Reinhart (New York Islanders) (Details: Bust, 37 career games (39 including playoffs), retired in 2022).
5. Morgan Rielly (Toronto Maple Leafs) (Details: Solid, really good career thus far, good value for a 5th overall pick, picked too highly to be considered a steal).
6. Hampus Lindholm (Anaheim Ducks) (Details: Solid, basically the same reasoning as Rielly).
7. Matt Dumba (Minnesota Wild) (Details: Decent, not that special for a 7th overall pick, kinda fell off over the past few seasons but still a solid NHL player).
8. Derrick Pouliot (Pittsburgh Penguins from Carolina Hurricanes) (Details: Bust, only played a significant number of games in 2 seasons, still a fringe NHLer).
9. Jacob Trouba (Winnipeg Jets) (Details: Solid, a good defenseman, definitely worth the pick).
10. Slater Koekkoek (Tampa Bay Lightning) (Details: Bust, never stuck in the NHL, injuries ruined him too (i believe), free agent since 2022).
11. Filip Forsberg (Washington Capitals from Colorado Avalanche) (Details: Steal, borderline solid but over the past 3 years he's been really good, better than you'd expect from an 11th overall pick).
12. Mikhail Grigorenko (Buffalo Sabres) (Details: Bust, left the NHL after 5 years, came back for one and then left again, never stuck in the league full-time, currently in the KHL).
13. Radek Faksa (Dallas Stars) (Details: Decent, bit underwhelming for a 13th overall pick but a solid NHL career and is still going).
14. Zemgus Girgensons (Buffalo Sabres from Calgary Flames) (Details: Decent, same reasoning as Faksa).
15. Cody Ceci (Ottawa Senators) (Details: Decent, not as good as expected but a solid NHLer whose had a few good years).
16. Tom Wilson (Washington Capitals) (Details: Solid, good top 6 forward who is an incredible physical presence).
17. Tomas Hertl (San Jose Sharks) (Details: Solid, fringe 1C whose had a few really good years but overall isn't much better than you'd expect at 17th).
18. Teuvo Teräväinen (Chicago Blackhawks) (Details: Solid, been underrated for a while in Carolina, arguably a better individual career than Hertl).
19. Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning from Detroit Red Wings) (Details: Steal, arguably the greatest goalie of the past 5 or so years, lead his team to 2 championships, won a vezina, can't ask for much more from a 19th overall pick).
20. Scott Laughton (Philadelphia Flyers) (Details: Solid, really good 3C whose started to score more over the past few years, a good player for the 20th overall pick).
21. Mark Jankowski (Calgary Flames from Nashville Predators) (Details: Disappointment, fringe NHLer whose had decent stats in a few seasons but hasn't been able to keep it up consistently).
22. Olli Määttä (Pittsburgh Penguins) (Details: Solid, 11 years in the league, likely passes 700 career games next year, was a good defenseman for a little bit, overall a decent player for the pick).
23. Michael Matheson (Florida Panthers) (Details: Solid, could become a steal if he keeps scoring like he did this season but until then he's solid, up and down career, really good offensively but lacks defensively at times).
24. Malcolm Subban (Boston Bruins) (Details: Bust, a prime example of why goalies don't get drafted in the 1st round as much anymore, 87 career games 12 years after being drafted is very disappointing for a 1st rounder, still on the fringes of the league at least).
25. Jordan Schmaltz (St. Louis Blues) (Details: Bust, 42 career games (43 including playoffs), free agent since leaving Switzerland in 2023, need I say more?).
26. Brendan Gaunce (Vancouver Canucks) (Details: Bust, not the worst player in the 1st round but yet to reach 200 games, at his best was a 4th liner / 13th forward, still a fringe guy for CBJ).
27. Henrik Samuelsson (Phoenix Coyotes) (Details: Bust, 3 career games, retired in 2021).
28. Brady Skjei (New York Rangers) (Details: Solid, like Matheson a borderline steal, but a solid top 4 dman this late in the 1st round is a good pick).
29. Stefan Matteau (New Jersey Devils) (Details: Bust, 92 career games, currently in the AHL).
30. Tanner Pearson (Los Angeles Kings) (Details: Decent, had 3-4 solid years but hasn't been consistent enough to be graded higher, the highs are solid but they come with low lows).
