Thinking about next year Part 1

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 16, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Draft
1st OA Macklin Celebrini LHC
14th OA Carter Yakemchuk RD
33rd OA Dean Letourneau RHC
42nd OA Jesse Pulkkinen LD
85th OA Evan Gardner G

I want to spend big in FA here with this kind of cap space, but the logic running in my head screams wait till next year, plus after a few years of weak attendance sharks could use some savings! still if we can snag Montour or Roy or Pesce, I would in a heartbeat as sharks need some vet leadership on the back end. sharks also need a backup plan for Couture if he can’t return from this injury, but he sounds optimistic so I’m hopeful he does because he’s the best mentor to Celebrini and Smith we could have.

If Couture can’t play, one of Smith or Celebrini can slide to C and sharks keep Musty up full time instead of just the first 9 games.

That Rutta for Weber trade is kinda genius. Clears up the Sharks RD logjam and helps them reach the cap floor. Moves an overpaud Rutta for an even more overpaid, and injured, Weber. Not sure if the Coyotes still need Weber to reach the floor. Doubt Coyotes would give up a 3rd to dump Weber since they only recieved a 5th round pick from Vegas to take on Weber as a cap dump.

I like your Celebrini / Couture / Smith line.

I don't think I'd put Gushchin and Bordeleau on the same line. Two small guys.

It would be awesome to sign Montour, but probably not possible.

I like it, I almost wouldn’t mind moving gush or bords for maybe a young rd to have graf on the third line, or keep smitty or celebrini in college

The 3rd is more for Rutta and the combination of moving Weber cap hit. And Weber being an almost 8 mil cap but only actually costs 1 min in actual Salary is the perfect piece to add, would reduce my ask to nothing honestly so the sharks could save that money.

I expect 1 of Gushchin or Bordeleau to make this club long term and 1 to either end up being a bust or being dealt in a deal to bring in a need.
I personally wouldn’t mind both Celebrini or smith to stay in College or come over, as long as it is their decision.
