Depends on what they do, im not expecting Foligno to score 40 goals from the 4th line, i expect 20 points and shutdown the other team, he does that consistently well to this day

U don’t give up Krebs & Jokiharju for that
I like Foligno, but if that’s all u want outta him we can sign a UFA to do that & keep those guys or release them for a better player

Afinogenov played the 2nd most games under Ruff only to Hecht

I remember when Ruff benched him in the playoffs vs the Rangers & the next game he got the OT winner
Was at the game
AMAZING

Skinner will play in the top9
And if that means he gets yelled at by Ruff a little bit,
that’s not the end of the world
Not the first time a tough coach yelled at Skinner
And not the first time Ruff has yelled at someone

You’re really overthinking this A LOT imo
Ruff has coached plenty of guys before who didn’t play defense, or were “lazy” and they still were plenty productive on good teams

Satan, Vanek & Afinogenov all immediately come to mind

The problem is that Skinner is not productive and has no motivation. It's not about shouting, but a useless player who gets 9 million will take a place in the lineup of guys like Kulich or Savoie or someone else who is not yet on the team and who would help us reach the playoffs.

30 goal scorers aren’t useless, even if he is overpaid
the rest of your post is filled with assumptions that have nothing to back them
And even if they did, it doesn’t matter
Skinner isn’t going anywhere- you’re just gonna have to deal with it

He hasn't been very good this season, but I'll be interested to see where he plays next. I mean the line.

Skinner wasn’t the ONLY ONE who had a “down” season this year
We (quite obviously) went from a more wide open attack to focusing much more on defense
Last year we were 3rd in goals, this year 22nd
Obviously that’s bc A LOT more guys than just Skinner struggled a bit
Yet defensively, we went from 26th in goals against to 11th
Part of that was finally having a legit goalie,
but it also had to do with our style of play being more defensive
Again, most guys on our team had their numbers drop
I believe the offensive numbers will rebound bc we can start to open things up more now that we have faith in UPL

Idk how old u are, but Ruff has worked some magic with guys not known for their defense
Tim Connolly was never a guy known for his defensive effort
But by the end of his time with us, Ruff had him laying out blocking shots & he became one of our top penalty killers even- and was good at it !

Now obviously that doesn’t mean Skinner has it in him to take a similar path, but even if he doesn’t, (like i said) there’s been guys under Ruff who didn’t play defense that were plenty helpful to the team

A lot of the guys on our team- A LOT- have never even played for a good coach
And Ruff is a good coach
I’m excited to see what happens next for us

It’s one thing to teach or force young Peterka to play in this style, and it’s completely different for veteran Skinner, who has never played like that in his life and, it seems to me, never will. We will see.
