Description

NJD's #1 priority this offseason should be to improve at goaltender, which is going to be difficult to do through free agency. But if we see more of the same out of this front office, unwilling to move players like Nemec/Mercer, and unable to pull something off for their other tradeable assets (1st round pick in '24, Holtz, Casey), then what could this roster look like with just FA additions?

I figure they mostly need to go after 1-2 year stop gap veterans, and could possibly add 1 longer term contract of 4-6 years. They will need to consider eventual extensions for Nemec and L. Hughes in the coming years, with the only significant money set to come off over the next couple of years being Haula and eventually Palat.

Ok sure, but there isn't a goalie on planet earth im moving for Nemec. Mercer, sure. But you don't need to move either of those players to get a good starting goalie that's available right now (Markstrom, Ullmark, etc.).

Good point. I don't want to see Mercer go because despite the down year, I think he could be our version of Palat (from his TBL days). If you're right about Markstrom or Ullmark, I'd take either assuming the price is mostly picks/prospects. But we can only assume what the price is.

The only 1 to fetch a top 10 pick was Schneider. And he'd be more like Swayman or Oetter
