I think the Leafs would not be interested unless it involved acquiring one of Calgary's top 4 defenseman in the deal.

I'd rather see what Jankowski can do at the NHL level who's rights we still hold for years rather than ship him, prospects and picks away for a player who can leave in 1 year.

    I would agree... and add...
And we are not trading Ferland (who we just signed) for Van Riemsdyk... 6'2" down to 5'10"... we need to get bigger not smaller...

I would fall off my chair if Treliving did his next deal that included giving up more picks.

Prefer keeping Ferland around over Spooner. Let's not forget that Ferland sort of single-handedly won that first round series against VAN a couple years back. Not saying that Spooner doesn't have lots of upside, I just think Ferland has more to his game that the Flames need.

That JVR deal also doesn't improve the RW situation in CGY. Can't have 3 LW guys who all deserve 20+ minutes per night. Also definitely can't have Brouwer getting 20 minutes on the 2nd line, while Frolik gets 8-10 on the 4th line. Not sure where @trdejong's information is coming from, but JVR is about 6'3'', not the 5'10'' you're suggesting.

Score drops to a 1/5 stars for not signing Sam Bennett!
