I'm Seider I take that on a 3 year deal tell you to pound sand on 8 for that . The cap is going to rocket in three years he'll be worth 10.5-12 easily and is a fool if he goes that long that cheap.

That is what I'd be shooting for to establish an internal cap along with Larkin. I'd probably prefer lowering the term before I go above 9 on 8.

I get that from management s POV, but from the players mine makes more sense 24,000,000 is I don't really have to work again if I don't want to money. So, get it on the three then go for the generational money on the next one.

Sure, but I also think you are way overshooting 8.7 being his value on a 3 year bridge. He is more likely to come in at 7, or lower, on that term. Number that has been leaking on an 8 year is 9.2.

So if 9.2 is the number, you try to work down to 8X8.7. If it can't get done, I prefer 7X8.7 to keep the internal hard cap that no one gets paid more than the captain.

I think your under valuing. That's probably the team leaking it to keep it that low. Negotiating in the public a little. Yzerman has played real hard all over leaks before so, if something got out it's with his blessing.

You actually got a source for this?

I’m not doubting it, I just haven’t seen it. Asking out of curiosity.

Yzerman is notorious for not saying jack **** to the media. Upfront or in “leaks”.

FWIW I think on a max deal $8.7M is the absolute minimum for Seider, if they can convince him to match Larkin.

Going forward, he’s the most important player in the organization. I wouldn’t blink at signing him for anything at $9.5M or less.

I do think a lot of decisions this year were made with the intent to deliberately nerf his contract. Ghost signed for 1PP most notably.

If he isn't getting 10 minimum he's a fool to sign more than 3-4 years

If he wanted to go absolutely price gouging, he pretty much has them by the balls.

We’ll see if he wants to do that. I think Yzerman will sign him to a bridge before going into 8 figures.

And I do agree that from the GM’s end, it’s wise to get everybody locked in ahead of the cap locking up. But we’ve seen plenty of FA’s sign for market value currently knowing that cap raise is gonna happen.
