Bridge Contracts

Description
With the bridges contracts, I would go more in a win now mode hoping the new free agents and the youth can make a difference, if not, restart in 3 years. Wanted Marchessault, but wasn't keen on Duclair. I would ok with Toffoli, Bertuzzi, DeBrusk, or Mantha. (I realize goaltending might be an issue but hopefully one of those 3 can be a starter...just like last year :))

If we're bridging I'd keep it to two years.

That Marchessault contract is gross, though.

Bridging Seider and Raymond is such a stupid idea. High risk, low reward.

Agreed, though it's a possibility worth acknowledging in the scenario that they're insistent on it.

What would your Marchessault contract be?

I wouldn't sign him haha.

Nothing against him. But to me we either sign Kane, or if he's not willing, go for a bigger winger. Already have Raymond who's just shy of average sized and Debrincat who's a midget. (To his credit he plays bigger than he is)

My real money would be spent getting Seider some ****ing help at RHD. The poor guy has suffered enough.

haha ya I agree we do need to get bigger in the forward department, but I went more towards scoring wingers.

I was hoping the upgrade on the left would help but looking back...he does need some help lol

Rather overpay for 8 than bridge at all.

Based on Yzerman's comments post-season, I'm guessing if Seider is looking at 8 figures on a max term, he'll just opt for the bridge.

My guess is somewhere between $8.7M - $9.5M if a max deal is signed.

That would be my route if I were Seider then a 3x8 sets him up for life and allows him to go for generational wealth next contract.

I was comparing it to the Dahlin bridge contract, but of course different players. I'm afraid of how much Raymond and Seider will cost us(not saying they don't deserve it).

Dahlin signed 5years ago the cap was known to be flat for a few years to come at that point (Covid escrow). The cap is 7.2 million more coming next season and is expected to jump 3-4 million per so that makes that a bad comparable.
