Description
Lets take a look at all the Oilers Reserve list, RFA's, and UFA's and how they preformed this year and their potential future with the team

RFA

Philip Broberg - LD - 950k x2 - Broberg has played pretty well in the opportunities he has had with the Oilers but has been Bako's #1 Dman, expect him to be making the starting roster.

Ryan Fanti - G - Unsigned - played in the ECHL all year putting up decent numbers but has been pushed down the G depth chart with the Ungar signing

James Hamblin - RW,C - 810k x1 - played decent in Bako, no reason to not bring him back

Noel Hoefenmayer - LD - 845k x1 - played top line minutes in Bako, expect to remain in Bako and continue development

Dylan Holloway - LW, C - 1.1M x2 - Has played a lot better under Knobby the Woodcroft, give him a bridge deal similar to what they did with Mcleod as he is still developing but I expect him to be slotted in for that 3rd line come training camp

Raph Lavioe - RW, C - 925k x2 - hopefully contend for a spot on the opening night roster, if not continue development in Bako

Carter Savoie - LW - 845k x 2 - Continue his growth in Bako, no expectations other then to push for a top 6 role in Bako and have a rebound year after struggling

UFA

Connor Brown - LW, RW - 925k x1 - Struggled throughout the year but put alot more effort into his defensive game becoming a trusted player on the PK, if he wants more the let him walk

Sam Carrick - C, RW - 950k x2 - Did decent in the 4C role that we acquired him for, will be good for the bottom 6 competition in training camp, if he wants to come back then why not

Vincent Desharnais - RD - 1.6M x4 - Has become possibly the most trusted Dman on the Oilers, give him the same contract that the Leaf's gave Benoit but a little more

Warren Foegele - LW, RW - Unsigned - GRRRRR why did he have to have a breakout year in a contract year, extend him a 3.5M x3 offer bjt if he wants more then thank him for his services and send him on his way

Cam Dineen - LD - 775k x2 - Continue his development in Bako and work on his defensive game, he should eye on replacing Broberg as the top dman in Bako

Adam Erne - LW, RW - Unsigned - no need to resign as he will just push players back in Bako

Sam Gagner - RW, C - 775k x1 - If he doesn't retire then then toss him a league min deal but have a feeling he will pull a Spezza and pull the retirement card if he is put on Waivers

Seth Griffith - RW, C - 775k x1 - good veteran depth piece for Bako with Malone retiring could be the potential captain for Bako next year

Adam Henrique - LW, C - 3M x2 - Has played up to expectations for what we wanted for him, would be the 3C but can move to the top 6 if someone goes down with injury, should be fairly cheap considering his age

Mattias Janmark - LW, C - 925k x1 - has had a dip in production this year but is still serviceable in the bottom 6 and is a great PK guy

Brad Malone - C, LW - Retiring

Greg McKegg - C, LW - Unsigned - same reason as Erne

Markus Niemeläinen - LD - 800k x2 - another young Dman that will be growing in Bako, potential to be that #1 damn in Bako with some more guidance

Corey Perry - RW - 900k x1 - has been great in Edmonton, if decides to not retire then give him a contract ASAP but if he does offer him a role in management if he wants

Calvin Pickard - G - 950k x1 - So no one expected him to play the way that he has so hats off to him, I expect him to be the backup for Skinner as the goalie FA market is slim and pricy

Troy Stecher - RD - unsigned - NGL I completely forgot they acquired him but they can find a competent 7th Dman for cheaper in FA

Reserve List

Maksim Berezkin - LW, RW - 925k x2 - He is still inder contract in Russia for another year but I would still sign him when he is able to be, head office really likes him so I expect him to get lots of opportunity when he does come over to NA

Matt Capponi - C - 835k x2 - Just switch schools for more opportunity so it should help his development

Nathaniel Day - G - No Contract extended

Maxim Denezhkin - C - No Contract extended (probably would choose to stay in Russia)

Samuel Jonsson - G - 875k x3 - Continue to grow, needs to see major improvement if he wants a contract

Shane Lachance - LW - 850k x2 - Continue to grow his game

Jeremias Lindewall - LW - No Contract extended

Joel Maatta - C - No Contract extended

Tomas Mazura - C - No Contract extended

Luca Münzenberger - LD - 925k x 2 - has grown alot over the past year and will be good in Bako if it translates over

Noah Philp - C - 775k x1 - He is coming back from personal reasons, Oilers have already come out and said a contract will be extended in the offseason

Ty Taylor - G - No Contract extended

Nikita Yevseyev - LD - 925k x2 - is still a while away from making the jump from Russia as he is only 19 but is playing pretty well in the minutes he is given

I think they will have to go higher on Desharnais. He can get more on the market for his size age and play.

Why do you have Wanner over Akey?

Absolutely loved ve your analysis. Brilliant work. Otherwise completely agree.

Oilers Management and coaching staff during Training camp/midseason openly discussed the idea that Wanner is maybe 1-2 years out and just has to fine tune some aspects. I really like Akey thought he was a slam dunk of a pick when they got him but with his Injury very early on in the season with the Barrie Colts which kinda f'ed his development, if he didn't get injured he would be at #2 .

The Oilers also have planned out their right side on defense to where in potentially 3 years it could be Bouchard, Wanner, Akey.

thanks man
