Description

Ik it doesn't make sense business wise but that Backlund line was so good down the stretch for them that they might end up extending Mangiapane instead of selling him at TDL. Also feel like whoever NJ chooses to trade for out of Ullmark or Markstrom, that there really isn't a goalie trade market. I feel like every contending team going into next year has a long term option already, so Markstrom stays on the team one more season.

Flames won't get positive value for Vladar unfortunately, they've killed his value. Had his best year in year 1 but got worse in back to back years.

I can see him getting swapped for an overpriced forward or D since Flames have a lot of capspace

Toronto, and Los Angeles are probably both looking to add a goalie, Colorado could also be depending how their series goes. Then you have Ottawa, New Jersey, Detroit and Buffalo who could be looking for an upgrade in net. With 50% retention I could see all of those teams being interested in Markstrom since as you've mentioned their aren't alot of goalies available.

I had a good think about those other Eastern teams. Buffalo I'd doubt as they'd want to run UPL and Levi for the future. Ottawa I think is currently tied at the hip with the Korpisalo deal, Detroit has a lot of prospects in the pipeline that I'd imagine they prioritize (Augustine, Cossa), Colorado I did not think of and that is honestly where Markstrom ends up when it's all said and done. With Markstrom having only 2 years left is one of the reasons I could see Detroit or Buffalo being interested so they don't have to rush those young guys in and he'd be a good mentor to have. As for Ottawa we could just bring Korpisalo back as part of a trade and run him in a tandem with Wolf.
