Trade with Colorado

Created by: SuprDave45
Team: 2017-18 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 27, 2017
Published: Jul. 27, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obama...I am starting to warm up to this idea!

Colorado fans, is there any chance of this? What is the word on Soderberg, give us the scoop!
Trades
COL
  1. Staal, Marc ($1,700,000 retained)
  2. Zborovskiy, Sergey
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
With the retained money, contracts are a wash.

Not going to pretend you are getting Ray Borque, but Staal would be fine as a third pair, situational guy. Might even be an improvement over Av's third pair last year. It's when you give him big minutes, tough match-ups and big money that you start to feel ill.

You also get a prospect and a pick for your trouble. Deal?

$1.8M retained would actually even out. Soderberg is owed $14M over the next three seasons and Staal is owed $21.2 over the next four. Spreading the payments over 4 years instead of 3 might appeal to COL, but I think they would want more retained and/or more draft/prospect assets to make the trade.

Also, there's no way Staal waives his NMC to go to Colorado. I'd love the trade otherwise.
