Dang, forgot to change it to 186 days left, trust my numbers wink ... 2025 UFAs: Adin Hill signs a two or three year extension on July 1st 2024 to remain in Toronto as Woll's tandem partner. Shea Theodore signs a career-closing long-term extension with Utah.

Toronto: Acquires and extends Stanley Cup winning goaltender Adin Hill to partner with Woll for a few years. It isn't the kind of "big game hunting" indicated by the Leafs, but $4.9m on your 1A is probably a price that suits that team better right now than something like Markstrom's $6m. With the $14.4m in cap space they have after this trade, they re-sign Timothy Liljegren at $3m per year for three years, bringing him to 28 when he can sign a longer term deal with a higher cap ceiling. They can re-sign Joel Edmundson for another year or two at $2.5m per year. They bridge Nicholas Robertson at $2.75m per year. With the remaining $6.15m in cap space after those signings, they bring on Chandler Stephenson for four or five years around $5m per year, and lastly re-sign RFA Connor Dewar for around league min. Cowan starts on a gritty but scoring-capable third line, lots of offense and depth to spread around.

Toronto 2024-25:
Hill - Woll

Rielly - McCabe
Benoit - Liljegren
Edmundson - Timmins
Webber

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Cowan - Stephenson - McMann
Dewar - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Reaves

Vegas: Gains the cap space they need to re-sign Marchessault, while obtaining from Toronto an underrated bottom six player in Pontus Holmberg and a guy in Alex Steeves who ought to have an NHL shot any time now given his AHL performance in 2023-24, and from Utah a decent power forward in Crouse, A guy who I think is a somewhat promising NHLer in right hand D-man, 6'4" Michael Kesselring, and the 6th overall selection in the 2024 draft. With the $11.8m in cap space they have after this trade, they re-sign Marchessault for three years at $7.5m per year, sign UFA goaltender Cam Talbot for one year at $1.5m to 1B for Logan Thompson, re-sign Michael Amadio at $1.5m per year, and sign newly acquired RFA Kesselring at around $800k or so for a couple of years. Vegas drafts their next big thing right hand D-man with the 6th overall pick (if Levshunov isn't available, then one of Parekh or Yakemchuk).

Vegas 2024-25:
Thompson - Talbot

Hanifin - Pietrangelo
McNabb - Kesselring
Hague - Whitecloud
Hutton

Barbashev - Eichel - Marchessault
Crouse - Hertl - Stone
Amadio/Holmberg - Roy - Howden
Holmberg/Amadio - Cotter - Kolesar
Steeves

Utah: Is going to be going for it probably really quickly in a new city with new ownership looking to make an impact. They send L Lawson Crouse, RHD prospect Michael Kesselring and the 6th overall selection in 2024 to Vegas in exchange for the 19th overall selection in 2024, D Shea Theodore (with extension on the way), C William Karlsson and F Pavel Dorofeyev. They need a better center ice position and gain that in Cup winner Karlsson, still a 30 goal and 60 point scorer and I think has another three or four high quality years in him before petering out around 35 years old. His age and the 13 spots dropped in the draft is why I added young forward Pavel Dorofeyev, 13 goals and 24 points in 47 games in 2023-24 and just 23 years old, probably a good candidate for a 3rd line job at some point.

After this trade, they have $36.4m in cap space: they re-sign Sean Durzi long-term at $6.25m per year, bridge Moser at $2.75m per year, re-sign Valimaki for three years at $2.5m per, sign UFA Jake DeBrusk for five or six years at $5.75m per year, re-sign Liam O'Brien at league min, sign UFA Brett Pesce for six or seven years at $6.5m or $7m per year, bridge RFA Victor Soderstrom at, say, $1m per year (Utah fans correct me if I'm wrong, but he'd need to clear waivers to be sent down next year right? So best he be given that 3rd pair job next to steady defender Valimaki?), sign a cheap depth RHD to spot off Soderstrom if that's possible and/or required. Josh Doan spends time in the AHL fine-tuning his game even more, and if he proves that he just can't stay down there because he's too good, then Nick Schmaltz could be dealt to make room for him, probably getting a pretty decent return (like maybe another young center from a team needing scoring now that can't wait).

Lastly, there is a trade with Boston (not seen here obviously - see the follow-up thread) that sees G Karel Vejmelka, C Barrett Hayton and the 19th overall selection in 2024 that they got from Vegas, sent to Boston for Linus Ullmark (who comes with an extension agreed upon, and only if he waives of course) and Boston's 2026 2nd round pick. Boston let's Bussi simmer in the AHL for one more year, and uses their leadership and organizational culture and experience to propel Hayton to what he was drafted so high to be, even if it takes some time - he could grow into Coyle's replacement, for instance, as a time-line guess. When William Karlsson's time is up in Utah, Conor Geekie should be on the scene to take over for him. In the meantime, new owner guy hopes they compete WITH Karlsson. Utah uses their riches of 2nd round picks in 2024 and 2025 to move back up into the 1st round of 2024 (hey Lamiorello, want two 2nd round picks and a 3rd round pick for the 20th overall in 2024?)

Utah 2024-25:
Ullmark - Ingram

Theodore - Pesce
Moser - Durzi
Valimaki - Soderstrom
UFA 7th D-man

Keller - Cooley - Schmaltz
Maccelli - Karlsson - DeBrusk
Carcone/Dorofeyev - Bjugstad - Guenther
Dorofeyev/Carcone - McBain - Kerfoot
O'Brien

Cool idea, but I feel Vegas isn't getting enough assets in return for some high level players.

lol Vagas is comitting robbery in this deal lol
Clearly a VGK fan made this lol.
TO getting totally hosed. Hill is a 3rd string goalie who had a small stretch in a single season lol They could get the same goaltending value from Martin Jones for $900 000 and keep Holmberg. Who is a studd.
Then they are getting Crouse as well? lol
Crouse is worth more than everything else in this trade combined lol
You can tell this person has no clue because they are suggesting giving Liljegren 3m per when he will be lucky to get 1.5. They are suggesting signing Edmundson for 2.5 when he will get at least 3.5m per. And worst of all, they are suggesting the Leafs blow all their money on another FWD and totally ignore their D. Starting a new season with an even worse D than they did last year. lol
Vagas somehow loses nothing and gets a way better looking team as a result lol

Lol, lol, lol, roflmao, roflmao. No clue, no clue, clearly a vegas fan.

Get a clue bud. I hate the Knights. But seriously, you're suggesting that Crouse, a winger whose top point total in the NHL was 45 points in one year, is worth more than, let me check what you wrote, EVERYTHING else COMBINED? .... William Karlsson, lol, a center with better offensive stats and some defensive acumen, lol, Shea Theodore, lol, a top end puck-moving defenceman, lol... you really said that? Lol, lol, lol, lol. Am I saying lol enough? That makes me correct, lol, right? lol.

You call Adin Hill a third stringer, lol, lol, lol, lol. Let's recap his NHL career. 2017-18: 4 games, .891, 2018-19: 13 games, .901, 2019-20: 13 games, .918, 2020-21: 19 games, .913, 2021-22: 25 games, .906, 2022-23: 27 games, .915 then playoffs 16 games, .932, 2023-24: 35 games, .909 then playoffs 3 games .931. But Martin Jones is better. the air must be real thin where you're at. lol, lol, lol, lol, lol. Stopped 93% of shots in two playoff years in a row and Martin Jones is better. I'm flabbergasted.

Holmberg is a good player, but "stud" players can score more than 7 goals in, yes, just 54 games. Stud players can probably get at least 1 point in a 7 game playoff series.

Lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol. Maybe a Leafs fan still bitter about his team's inability to find quality goaltending, or some heart and soul to make it through a playoff round?

Glancing at a few of your other responses to people, it's all the same. You say lol more than you say anything else, sound like an absolute troll, and just an hour ago told another user to stop pretending that he knows more than "statistical evidence can prove lol" ..... dang dude, take your own advice.

TLDR. Good luck. This is a ridiculous trade clearly massively in favour of Vagas. And clearly a To h8r.

Everything I said is clear and obvious to anyone who has watched these players, knows the direction the individual teams are heading (for example, the only news out of TO is moving out someone to bolster the D, and this person has them purposefully making their D way worse) and understands player value and contract position. For example Crouse, who is 26, 3 years left on a super cheap 4m contract and putting up numbers on a total embarrassment of a roster. Being compared to Karlsson, who is 31, still have 3 years left on a pretty pricey 6m contract. And is playing on a totally stacked team. Pretending those comparisons are reasonable and fair lol
Thats fair the same way Hubey and Tkachuk was a fair deal. And would work out the same way.
Hope you have learned something.
Good day.

If you can't be bothered to read what amounts to one page in a book, or less, don't bother me with your uneducated responses.

Come back and talk to me after Liljegren, Edmundson, and Robertson have signed their new deals and let me know if you still think you or I are a better judge of player value.
Oh, keep an eye on Hill and Markstrom as well. See if you still think Hill at 5 is still a better deal than Markstrom at 6. lol Im sorry, I know it hurts your feelings when I laugh but its really funny. Hill will be lucky to not be a back up.
Again, let facts do the talking. Good luck to you. Don't forget to come back and man up when the time comes.
