Description
Noticed a few people looking into this as the Pastrnak negotiations reach a "holding pattern". Thought I'd look at CGY's potential willing prices.

Does this make the Flames better? Pretty undecided. Pure snipers are rare commodities, but the acquisition of Pastrnak would look a lot better if he had a guy like Gaudreau setting him up. CGY would probably need to split up Monahan and Pastrnak to try to maximize goals scored. Without a bonafide elite playmaker, hard to see them both scoring their 30-35G on the same line.

Should be noted that Gaudreau is a LW...as is Marchand. Gaudreau with Krejci doesn't make as much sense. Could Gaudreau play RW with Marchand/Bergeron? Maybe. Hasn't been tested at RW in CGY.

Pasta at $6.75 million would have been done already. Johnny Hockey in Boston would be interesting though.

I would love johnny hockey in Boston but I wouldn't trade Pastrnak for him straight up. this is closer than your other 2 but still off on the value here.

I would disagree... with Rittich, D. the price is actually very close. Remember how many seats Johnny Hockey will fill not to mention the merchandise sales! Management would say yes! Well Boston MNGT - Flames may say lets sell some more Jerseys then trade him!

are you really upgrading your team by acquiring pasta instead of johnny? its basically just a swap of players more than anything and Calgary doesn't need a roster shakeup of any sorts and that basically what a trade like this is

I dont think there is a GM in the NHL that would hold back a trade to make their team better because it would affect their merchandise sales. I'm sure Pastrnak does just fine in the merchandise sales area for Boston.
