How to Rebuild Colorado

Created by: dbudz12
Team: 2017-18 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 31, 2017
Published: Aug. 1, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sakic needs to figure it out, so I'll give some suggestions. Let me know in the comments what you think about these deals.

Also, if there are any other suggestions for trades with veteran guys you think should be moved let me know.
Trades
1.
COL
  1. Girard, Samuel
  2. Kamenev, Vladislav
Additional Details:
Girard is #53 on the top prospect link and Kamenev is #39.
NSH
  1. Landeskog, Gabriel
Additional Details:
Colorado finally gets the future defenseman they've been looking for in Dante Fabbro. Lets face it, the Predators do not need any more young defenseman. According to http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/top-nhl-prospects-2016-17-nhl-season/story?id=42622944 Fabbro was the 21st best prospect going into the year last year, exactly what Colorado needs, while also acquiring Kamenev, a forward prospect to replace Landeskog in the long run.

Nashville also gets a winger to replace losing James Neal and Mike Fisher.
2.
COL
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. 2018 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
With Hayden Fluery still on the come up, Carolina is absolutely loaded with young defenseman still. However, they lack that true number one center.
CAR
  1. Duchene, Matt
Additional Details:
Duchene does NOT want to be in Colorado anymore, and Sakic has set the price on a highly touted defensive prospect in return for him. Carolina matches that bill perfectly as they will be acquiring the #23 overall prospect in Bean.

Carolina will be a playoff team after getting that top line center to play with Jeff Skinner so the draft pick will most likely be around the 20th mark.
3.
COL
  1. Senyshyn, Zach
  2. 2018 2nd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
An elite skating right wing, Senyshyn would look phenomenal on a wing with Colorado's elite skating center Nathan Mac.
BOS
  1. Johnson, Erik
Additional Details:
Boston is essentially wasting the best years of Marchand and the last few tremendous years left of Bergeron. They need to make a splash for their weak defensive core and Johnson will provide a solid top-4 as an aging Chart just can't cut it anymore.

Too much for Duchene if you ask me ...
But Joe Sakic wold want more ... he seems to want a super top younger D-Man, a top prospect, and a 1st round pick, which isn't happening ... he's not going to get Hanifin, Gauthier, and a 1st rounder (i know that isn't the deal you have), and even that he'd say no to ... he'd ask for Slavin+Bean+1st+2nd ... he wants waaaaayyy too much i'd say.

I agree that he wants way too much but nobody is going to give him that much and eventually his hand is going to be forced. with 2 years left on his deal he has more trade value than he does with only 1 year left. If Sakic doesn't trade him he should be fired.

Actually Duchene could have more value next year if he has an excellent bounce back year. A team could acquire him at the draft and immediately sign him to an extension, like the Ryan O'Reilly deal. At this point in the summer it looks like Duchene will start the year with the Avs so it seems Sakic is banking on a big year from Duchene. That's a pretty big gamble though..

Its a huge gamble. Duchene has shown a lot of frustration amid all the trade talks and if he has another down year Sakic is screwed with his biggest trading chips. What do you think of the other trades though?
