Habs "Depth" Chart

Created by: We_Want_The_Cup
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 3, 2017
Published: Aug. 3, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
No line combinations were made. Just pure NHL level comparison from top to bottom, using players "natural" positions (tweaked a few). As you'll see below, we have way too many low-pairing guys. However, many of those currently ranked low are on the climb and I expect (Lehkonen for example) to be great players.

LW:
- first liner
- first liner
- second liner
- second liner???
- third liner (who didn't seem out of place on first line at all...)
- third liner (offensive wizard, health issues)
- fourth liner defensive forward
- plug -- gritty forward
- non-NHLer

Center:
- first liner ???
- second liner
- 3rd/4th liner
- 4th liner
- 4th liner
- 4th liner
- non NHLers, rest of the list

RW:
- ?????? (was a first liner, now unknown...)
- third liner
- third liner with defense issues
- third liner
- 4th liner
- plug
- non NHLer

LD:
- 2nd pairing
- ??? (could go first pairing dynamo, or AHL)
- 3rd pairing defensive stalwart
- 3rd pairing shot suppressor
- 3rd pairing youth
- 3rd pairing youth
- 3rd pairing youth, big upside
- not NHLers yet

RD:
- 1st pairing
- 2nd pairing
- 3rd pairing possession hero
- 3rd pairing offensive guy
- not NHLers yet

Drouin, Galchenyuk but cause of Gallagher some one those one shall play at left or as centerman, Lekonen, Hudon and McCarron should be at right

I would change the bottom LW to
Carr
De La Rose
Reway

Shaw is better than Hemsky and Scherbak

As I said in the description, I kept almost every player at their natural position, or at least at the most likely one as it stands right now. Unless coach Julien hints otherwise, this is how I'll show my depth chart.

Somewhat agree on both points, but not fully. Carr is an iffy prospect, and I think JDLR has shown to be a very complete player (of course, with a lacking offensive production... but otherwise complete lol). I ranked Reway higher too because he's a wildcard, and could end up being one of our top prospects come development camp **if** illness is kept under control. He is actually one of our most *skilled* forwards, at least. But yes, it can be argued either way, since all of them are question marks at the moment.

Shaw is indeed better than Hemsky, though I'd argue that Hemsky is superior offensively... Either or, I place them at more or less equal value as it stands. As for Scherbak, that's another wildcard, and if the last mini-camp was any indication, he seems already ready for 3rd line role. At the very least, he is much more offensively skilled than Shaw (but lacking in other aspects). You're somewhat right though, I think I could easily place him lower than Shaw. A bit of time will tell.
