In this scanario Frolik gets injured during the offseason and has to have season ending surgery aswell as kylington ending up going to jail for stealing a boat while being drunk and ends up getting trade fire dirt cheap to the wings. jusso valamaki has looked like a complete beast coming off his final year of playing in the WHL and plays as well as Brodie in training camp so treliving takes a risk and trades Brodie to get a winger who can complete the first line. The risk pays off as valamaki wins rookie of the year with the stats line of 17-33-50. The top line impresses with Johnny having 31-52-83 Monahan having 40-35-75 and galchenyuk having a slow start still finishes with 23-40-63. The second line plays solid through out the hole season with Bennett and tkachuck looking like emerging stars but are still looking at second line time if the first line keeps playing as well as they are. The 3rd line has a rough start but finishes very strong with backlund leading the way. The first line is inconsistent throughout the year but are starting to find chemistry before the playoffs. The D play solid with Hamilton being a noriss finalist but comes third in voting behind karlsson and werenski. Anderson impresses with limited time on the third line but doesn't really look like he will ever be ready for top paring minutes. Kulak does alright but nothing impressive and even gets put in the press box for a bit and Healy plays some time but ends up getting suspended. The goalies do better than expected with gillies have a .920 and parsons having a .916. This team ends up going to the WCF but get eliminated in 6 games with many fans blaming the young goaltending tandom.
