Sakic isn't retaining on both Duchene and Barrie, Especially not for what you're offering here.

How is this "a hot pile of garbage" or not enough, I understand that they shouldn't be retaining salary, but the players/picks are good. They can flip AA for another 1st, Hayden was point per game in college, Fortin has EXTREMELY high upside and he isn't bad as it is, Forsling is an offensive defenseman who is young and could replace Barrie in a few years, Pokka is a great D prospect he just isn't doing well in Chicago, a first in a really deep draft, and a 2nd. At least explain what how this is a "hot pile of garbage".

Ok, I'll do this.

Anisimov: never had more than 45 points in 8 seasons. He isn't being "flipped" for much, considering his contract.
Hayden: unknown. if college stats were a precursor to anything, nathan gerbe would be martin st louis
Fortin: I can't find anyone named a. fortin at hockeydb.com who was even drafted. are you saying they are really high on a guy who as a 20 year old in the Q managed 52 points?
Forsling: offensive defenseman? had 8 points in the AHL and 5 in the NHL
Pokka: turns 24 mid season and hasn't played one single NHL game

for

Duchene: seasons of 70 and 67 points (3 others over 50) still 26 years old
Barrie: good offensive defensemen who has scored over 50 points.

so yea, pile of garbage for those 2 players

I've already seen Montreal fans willing to give up a 1st for AA. He also plays PK, and the Rangers would definetly give up something for him.
Hayden produced great in his short stint in the NHL last year.
Yeah, Fortin is a bit of a wild card, but if Stan Bowman didn't sign the 4th line/depth players, he'd have a roster spot. He'd have a top 9 spot if it weren't for Sharp/Hartman.
Hell, top 6 even, with Kane of Schmaltz if he plays 3C.
Forsling just transferred from Sweden and needed a little time to adjust. He's playing NHL time this year.
Pokka might turn out to be a bust yes. However, a change in scenery could have him excel. Plus as I said, a first in a deep draft, and a 2nd.

The retained salary makes this deal unreasonable, not necessarily the players/picks.
Duchene for AA, Forsling (projected top 4 or better), and a 1st. This should definitely be enough for Duchene. Clearly Colorado is expecting too much for him and thus why they haven't gotten a deal done. This is a 1st rounder, a young defensive A prospect, and a very established 2nd line center for a 1st line center. In fact this is probably more than any team would be willing to pay.
T Barrie for Hayden, Fortin, Pokka, and a 2nd. This deal is a stretch. Barrie is worth probably more than that being a top 2-3 D-man that puts up solid points.

The thing here is that COL is getting 4 NHLers, plus Pokka who would be an NHLer on COL, a 1st and 2nd who should/could both be NHLers with good scouting/drafting. So 5 NHLers for 2 players.

Not a "hot pile of garbage" but I'd put Hartman in the deal over Fortin and have no retained salary and the deal might be accepted.
