To the people who say we are destroying our draft, it is kind of true, but with 5 players on the top 6 who are under 25, it is not a big deal. Defense is kind of old, but that's what you sacrifice for having some great young gunners. Hopefully, Jerabek or Butcher can take Alzer spot next year, so our pair would be balanced.

In what world wouldn't Edmonton not match a $9 million offer sheet on Leon Draisaitl? For Chia too take the picks you'd need to offer Draisaitl around $10.5 million to $11 million per long term.

I don't know if that would be such a bad deal for the Oilers. Draistail may/may not be such value at 9m. I guess we would find out if every he had to a # 1 centre, something he hasn't proved. And I'll project that Montreal will be finishing out of the playoffs in some of those next 4 drafts. They just don't have the cap to add to their team in the future and their prospects on cheap ELC are few. Plus the Oilers have would have 8m or whatever to spend on UFAs or whoever in the next few year because they don't have Leon.
If I was the Oilers, the Canadians would be one of the teams I would to sign Leon to an offer sheet.

I think you'll need a little more to get Draisaitl away, but once you're paying 4 first, who cares what it costs?

If the Habs can get Will Butcher and Jerabek, Juulsen and Morrow develop within a year or two, this back end won't miss a beat.

    Do it!!!

Don't forget that the Habs drafted three pretty good ones this year, too. Brook, Walford and Fleury. And let's not forget Lernout.
