I think Taylor Hall and Duchene are fairly comparable payers and Taylor Hall was traded for a young top 4 dman which the Bruins are obviously trying to avoid trading (Carlo/McAvoy). I think a trade in which the Bruins give up Spooner, a guy who appears to be good for 40-50 points on the third line with powerplay time, Lauzon, a young, potential top 4 dman prospect, Czarnik, a good young third liner with some middle 6 potential and a first round pick in 2018 along with Boston clearing out some cap space, in this case Matt Beleskey, who could bounce back, would be a pretty good trade for both teams. I think both the Avalanche and the Bruins are bound to overestimate the value of their assets but I really don't think Duchene, is worth a top 4 dman as an older and less consistent player than Taylor Hall. Duchene is coming off a season where as a top 6 center, he finished with 41 points and under 20 goals. That output, despite Duchene obviously having more value than Spooner, is not much better than Spooner considering he played 4 more minutes per game and only finished with 2 more points and 7 more goals. Then Gabriel Bourque is just an extra toss in to even out the number of assets.
