iginla was a minus 30 last year, he's way to slow to be playing with these kids.

Yeah he had a bad +/- last year, but he was on Colorado. He is very slow but if he plays smaller minutes and has PP time on the point, he'd do fine.

Franson isn't better than Benning, IMO.

Gallagher isn't better than Nuge, full stop.

You are completely right about both, but Benning helps get Schmidt and Neal from Vegas. Franson is a short term replacement. Gallagher is on a very team friendly contract, and the Oilers need the cap space. They get a 20 goal scorer on a great contract and a 3rd round pick that is valued as a 2nd basically because of how deep the draft is.

I appreciate what you're trying to do here, but prefer to keep Benning as he is RD vs Schmidt at LD. If you removed those two players from the Vegas deal, does it still hold up or does it need something added?

Also, I don't think Gallagher is a 20-goal scorer unless he plays full time with McDavid... but then, most anybody could score twenty in that spot. He's an injury-prone 3rd line agitator. I'm pretty sure we can do better than that for Nugent-Hopkins.
