Say bye to Z. Draft Dahlin and Hughes.

Created by: Caboose119z

Description
The Z buyout simulates Retirement Cap Recapture, he is not bought out. The extra cap could be used to sign a free agent D or RW but I think its better served waiting for trade deadline or signing the young guys who are soon due for contract (plus if I sign Karlsson or Tavares by not signing Nyquist you all will 1 Star me). I used Hughes as 1C because he is on Matthews/Eichel's level and Rasmussen as 2C because I like the idea of a line where the smallest player is 6'3". Whoever is better suited for Center duty between Larkin and Rasmussen gets 2C.

Larkin is made captain. Abdelkader, DeKeyser, and Nielsen rotate alternates. Once Abby and Nielsen are gone Hughes takes an A for sure. I hear Dahlin might be a bit of a head case so he might not get one.

Now this is a team that could make some noise, Though i seriously doubt that Mrazek gets a long term deal i think Petruzelli is our future Goalie.

I like this lineup a lot. We'd have to get pretty lucky to get a top 2 pick in 18 & 19 though.

OMG your pic made me laugh.
This lineup looks strong. I cringe when I still see DDK and Abby on these ....

If Jack Hughes is Matthews/Eichel level (which is yet to be seen, as he has yet to play 5 games at any junior level) then he will likely go 1st overall in 2019.

Suppose Detroit comes last in 2018 and 2019. They would only have a 25% chance at picking first and the odds of that 25% paying off twice in a row is around 6%. Even if you do come last the odds are not in your favour to get both players. With teams like Vancouver and Vegas in the mix, I find it hard to believe Detroit will come last.
