The problem with the BOS offer is that the move pushes their window back to when they'll be competitive. Boston is trying to compete now with guys like Bergy/Marchy/Rask all in their prime.

NJ is thin at forward, so sending an established player is not realistic. However, Queneville is probably ready to be a full-time NHLer this season, after spending most of last season in the AHL. Plus, Boston has plenty of cap space to add someone like Jagr or Vanek.

They could, but does either of those guys + JG replace or exceed the production of Pasta? Probably not.
