Vegas moves before the season starts

Description
These are trades before the start of the season and a couple of possible signings as well:

Pens trade: Pittsburgh needs a 3C and they'd need retention here, in return Vegas moves one of their multiple centers and gets a 2nd and a 3rd back, plus a young/cheap bottom six winger who will be needed to fill out the roster once Vegas makes their deadline moves. Simon still has a little upside as a prospect though he's limited. Most likely he's a fill in guy in future years.

Devils: New Jersey isn't a likely contender this year, but they could still make this type of deal since they have the cap room and have so many needs on defense.

Kings: LA lands a LHD to replace McNabb, Vegas gets a promising winger prospect and a 3rd rounder.

Blackhawks: Chicago has the cap room to do this assuming they can LTIR Hossa. They land a solid LH defenseman to help their depleted blueline. McNabb is cheap enough to allow the Blackhawks to add other help if needed at the deadline.

FA signings:

-Winnik is a solid 4th liner who excels on the PK as well. Good value here early in the season as he can help some of the younger guys who may be earmarked for a similar role. Winnik has also shown himself to be a viable trade chip over the years.

-Jagr (or a similar veteran winger with scoring upside/name recognition) provides Vegas with a little more fire power early in the season to keep games close and get some wins, while also giving them a solid trade chip at the deadline for a contender.

Didn't check the teams individual cap situations, but I'll assume they all fit. I think you've done a pretty good job here, as the players listed are likely made (Have to) available by Vegas and you appear to have done your homework of where the specific Dmen might find a good fit. Ask generally pretty good as well! Good job!

I like the Pittsburgh trade. The two picks hurt but Vegas retains salary for three years so it is probably fair.

Thanks!

Yeah the only question about Cap space is Chicago, but it is pretty well assumed they will be able to LTIR Hossa (and it's obviously contingent on this deal).

Yeah paying for the retention ups the value, and for Vegas it's more about tying up a retention spot for the 3 years than the actual money. Eakin I feel is a good bounce-back candidate and if he does he can go a long way to replacing Bonino for the next 3 years.

I like your trades, they all seem fair and based in reality. With that being said, LA has Muzzin, Martinez, Forbort, and Gravel who are left handed, so I'd say they really don't need another LD
