The only moves I like here are Lack and Lazar. None of the other trades make Calgary better now, and starting another rebuild doesn't make any sense. I like the idea of getting Rick Nash, but not for what you're giving up, and definitely not at his full salary. Gaudreau for just picks would be a disaster for Calgary, and Calgary would need a very good scoring winger back for him, in which case, why trade him? Trading Gaudreau would make sense if Calgary had a major hole on defense or at center, but we're set at both positions for the foreseeable future, especialy if Backlund resigns.

These trading expensive players for picks don't happen that much for cap reasons. And I think you have overvalued some of these spare parts players. Take the Jersey trade. Next year it likely a top 12 pick. and then there are all those other picks. Wouldn't NJD they be better to spend money on a UFA, maybe not as good as Gaudreau but keep all their picks?
