Wow this is the first post were someone actually offers what Sakic wants. Young under, 24 2nd pair defenseman and a good prospect. I think you add another piece and this works. Sadly that's way too much but if you want Duchene than that's what gets you him

I think that trade is reasonable, but to date Sakic has not been reasonable. If things start getting angry in Col., between the two sides then maybe a deal like that happens. With MacArthur now being on LTIR, and Melnik only paying the 20% of his salary, maybe he would allow such a deal, but it would likely involve more dollars going out to match Duchene salary coming in, which is why I see Dzingel as part of the trade. Ceci played hurt all of last year, and while Dion offers things in terms of skills, mostly the dreaded "intangibles", he also can be a liablilty to play with. I still think Ceci will develop into a very good defenseman with lots of ability both ofensively and defensively - so I don't think he is going anywhere. I do think Paul will be dealt, but his value is not very high right now, so he is more likely to go in a small deal for a low draft pick or be a small part of a larger deal for someone like Duchene. It will be a fasinating year in Ottawa, with lots of young players pushing veterans for spots, and vets trying to earn good contacts, and some trying to justify the ones they have. I also feel like there is a silver lining with the injuries to Karlsson & Brassard, a great opportunity for young players to earn the trust of the coaching staff.
I don't want to come across as critical of your team. So many I see are not worth commenting on, but this one is very reasonable and interesting, which is why I have rambled on so long. Good job!
