1. Shane Wright (Montreal Canadiens) (Details: The most predictable player in the draft.).
2. Juraj Slafkovsky (New Jersey Devils) (Details: Elite power forward has unique skill set.  Can’t pass up the blend of size skill and skating ability.).
3. Logan Cooley (Arizona Coyotes) (Details: Dynamite scorer.   AZ needs C depth in a big way.  And everything else too so BPA.).
4. Simon Nemec (Seattle Kraken) (Details: Both RD will go B2B here.   Nemec skates really well and is more well rounded.).
5. David Jiricek (Philadelphia Flyers) (Details: Flyers have been in need of a solid top pair RD for several years.).
6. Cutter Gauthier (Columbus Blue Jackets from Chicago Blackhawks) (Details: Cutter fits the bill for CBJ.  Strong on the puck, physicality, great speed and scoring punch.).
7. Joakim Kemell (Ottawa Senators) (Details: Ottawa could trade this pick but I have them taking Kemell because of his elite scoring touch.  Savoie also works well here.).
8. Jonathan Lekkerimäki (Detroit Red Wings) (Details: Red Wings need a super skilled C to play with Raymond.   Lekkerimaki had a huge U18 and has a great shot.).
9. Matthew Savoie (Buffalo Sabres) (Details: Savoie looks like a good fit.  He can play C or RW.  High end offensive ceiling.).
10. Pavel Mintyukov (Anaheim Ducks) (Details: Ducks grab a high end LD to develop alongside Drysdale.).
11. Frank Nazar (San Jose Sharks) (Details: Sharks need RW to play with Eklund down the road.   Nazar fits the bill.  Agile, shifty, and has the speed and skill to go with it.).
12. Marco Kasper (Columbus Blue Jackets) (Details: Kasper has a wicked motor and performs in the SHL.  He will pad CBJ Center depth for years.  A great complement to the star wingers already in their system.).
13. Danila Yurov (New York Islanders) (Details: Isles had a down year because they did not score enough goals.  Yurov compares favourably to Hossa.  Yurov and Barzal together could be special.).
14. Conor Geekie (Winnipeg Jets) (Details: Too story book??  Plays for the Winnipeg Ice in the Dub and gets drafted by the Jets.  Towering C with the potential to be dominant physically.  Add in some slick playmaking abilities and you have exactly what the Jets need once Scheifele and PLD fly the coup.).
15. Seamus Casey (Vancouver Canucks) (Details: Canucks need RD to mirror Hughes.   Another slick skilled RD to bring offence from their second D pair.).
16. Ryan Chesley (Buffalo Sabres from Vegas Golden Knights) (Details: Sabres must recoup value from that Eichel trade.  Using this pick to get a solid RD to pair with Power for many years would help.).
17. Kevin Korchinski (Nashville Predators) (Details: It’s been a long while since the Preds took D in Round One.  Korchinski honestly might not fall this far.  He could easily go as high as Mintyukov.).
18. Jimmy Snuggerud (Dallas Stars) (Details: Stars are another team that had their fortunes curbed due to lack of goal scoring.   Snuggerud has a wicked **** and NHL bloodlines.).
19. Owen Pickering (Los Angeles Kings) (Details: The only hole in the Kings’ prospect system is LD.  I could honestly see them moving this pick to fix that hole in their lineup.  Otherwise Pickering would be a great fit.).
20. Brad Lambert (Washington Capitals) (Details: Caps need to turn their attention to bringing along some younger offensive talent.  Lambert dropped in the rankings over the season but he still has lots of upside.).
21. Tristan Luneau (Pittsburgh Penguins) (Details: The Pens’ cupboards are bare these days.  I’d start with some RD that has size skating and skill.).
22. Lian Bichsel (Anaheim Ducks from Boston Bruins) (Details: The Ducks’ biggest need is D.   With departures of Lindholm and Manson there’s definitely a huge void to be filled.  Bichsel has size and skating ability for a larger player and that’s hard to find.  He could end up as the perfect D pair for Drysdale.  He has the potential to play a strong safe defensive game.).
23. Nathan Gaucher (St. Louis Blues) (Details: Blues will need C depth in case ROR walks next year … likely not but still need a solid two way C.).
24. Jiri Kulich (Minnesota Wild) (Details: Kulich had a great U18 tournament.).
25. Liam Öhgren (Toronto Maple Leafs) (Details: Leafs need to add players that can hit the NHL sooner than later because of their cap crunch.).
26. Denton Mateychuk (Montreal Canadiens from Calgary Flames) (Details: Habs should be thrilled that this guy is here.).
27. Noah Östlund (Arizona Coyotes from Carolina Hurricanes) (Details: AZ continues to add C depth here.).
28. Isaac Howard (Buffalo Sabres from Florida Panthers) (Details: Sabres look no farther than the shifty LW.  Top six upside.).
29. Rutger McGroarty (Edmonton Oilers) (Details: Oilers need physical complementary players that can compete in the playoffs.).
30. Jagger Firkus (Winnipeg Jets from New York Rangers) (Details: Jets take a flier on high end skill F.  Bit undersized but he excelled at the top prospects game.).
31. Ivan Miroshnichenko (Tampa Bay Lightning) (Details: TB players might be licking their wounds but GM is licking his chops.  This guy might go way higher but it’s tough to say for sure.  Possibly the biggest ? In the Draft.).
32. Ty Nelson (Arizona Coyotes from Colorado Avalanche) (Details: Kuemper trade worked out super smitten for the Avs but it always does for Joe.   AZ should at least come away from it with another RD.).

I'd be dancing if that was the way the first round fell for Columbus. Gauthier and Kasper would be quite a haul. And if (instead of Orlov) they pop Odelius in Round 2... hoo boy.

CBJ is poised to have a really good draft. They could take Korchinski there instead of Kasper.
