In his first game with Vegas, after being traded from Washington, Mantha skated 15:14
The majority of his ice time came at even strength. He's slotted into the Golden Knights second line.
It's going to take some time to get acclimated with how Vegas likes to run their power-play before he finds a full-time role on one of the units.

He will improve as he gets more comfortable

Mantha is a massive forward who plays with surprisingly little physicality for his stature.
Through 56GP with the Capitals he had only been credited with 31 hits and 21 shot blocks.
He averaged 14:09 TOI with the Caps. All of his ice time came at ES and PP.
Mantha produced 20G - 14A - with seventeen of his goals coming at ES
He's always leaned shooter / goal scorer more than play driver / distributor off the rush.
His length can be an asset along the wall and around the crease when he's corralling pucks.
Hard to defend when fully engaged. Good skater. Credited with 90 shots on goal. (+5) defensively. Generally deployed in a third line role at even strength before slotting into one of the PP units.

Mantha's a bit of an enigma.
On one hand his size, skill, and potential to break out and score even more goals than he does is an attractive risk.
On the other hand, he can frustrate with a lack of detail and push back for his stature and skating ability.

Leans goal scorer more than play maker. Has the pace to be a threat off the rush in transition. Has the length to coral pucks in high danger areas and direct the play to the net. Can be a distraction / hard to defend when engaged. Lacks consistency … but he's scored 17G-11A in 50GP

For a big man he lacks physical push back. Only credited with 27 hits and 17 shot blocks.
Goal scorer when he's on. Shoot first mentality.

Big body forward who moves very well for his stature.
Despite his size he's more of motion player than a physically dominating power forward.
Good puck touch. Excellent release. Picks his spots energy wise. More compete would result in more trust and more consistent results.
Foundation is attractive. Capable of moving up in the lineup. Streaky.
Element is offense. Can be a threat off the rush when he gains the edge.
Net front / middle bumper role on the PP. Majority of his ice time comes at ES and PP.

Big body forward who has potential to produce offensively at the NHL level but it has been slow to develop
A solid skater for his stature. Fluid. Can transition pucks. On occasion he gets the edge off the rush and presents a challenge for defenders when he net drives.
Being used ES and on the PP. Does not PK.
The potential is there. His contract calls for more results. Injuries have held him back.
