Big body. Physical. Engaged in the hard areas. Battles to box out opponents around his crease.
There are moments, in games, his skating falls off. First three steps, winning races to pucks, are average for the speed of the NHL game. Rarely does he lead the rush or join as an extra layer, but he's capable on occasion.
Fronts the play on the PK. Blocks shots. Gaps up in the neutral zone.

A big body defender who struggled at the hardest time of the year in 21/22
His pace, execution, and overall detail fell off considerably after being traded to Florida from Montreal at the 21/22 trade deadline
When he is at his best he plays north of 20:00 in all situations and brings a physical element.
By the end of the season he looked tired and had a difficult time defending against the speed rush and in small areas along the wall in his zone. 2-Way 'D'

On a contending team he will not be tasked with being used on the power play
He can bring protection, to a more active 'D' partner who likes to skate pucks, with his 2-way game. Ended 2021-2022 with uneven play in Florida. His pace, execution, and consistent impact in any one area of his game was average by his standards. Trending towards being a high end #5 more than a #3 defenceman
