Brock Boeser Scouting Reports

Brock Boeser's game has returned to form. In fact, he's trending towards an entirely new level of complete play.
Boeser is a goal scorer. He has always been more of a shooter than a playmaker. He's also not the fastest skater in the NHL. His quickness, out of the blocks, and open ice pace, is average.
His compete, however, is arguably the best it has ever been ... to start the 23/24 season.
Through his first 13 game segment he's averaging 18:35 TOI - 14:09 ES - 4:23 PP
He's contributed 11G-5A and directed 36 shots on goal. He has 5 PPG and 2 GWG.
He's definitely played to his identity.
More impressive has been his defensive effort. He's much improved off the puck and winning more pucks / chipping them out of the defensive zone.
Boeser is already a (+10) which is a massive improvement from last year when he finished (-20

Leans 2F when he is producing offense.
Overall impact falls of considerably when he isn't scoring. Used at ES and PP. Does not PK.
Las season was marginally better than the (21/22) but his (-20) statistic stands out as a negative that has to be improved upon.
Has never been a burner in open ice. Average pace transporting the puck between the blue lines. Best work comes from the hash marks down in the offensive zone. Shoots the puck quickly and accurately. One of the first Canuck forwards over the boards on the PP.
First viewing (23/24) was a positive one.
4G game vs Edmonton. The puck found his stick in scoring areas and he cashed in on his chances. Looks energized to start the season.
Monitor consistency.

AVG TOI has remained consistent. He is used ES and on the PP.
Easily defined. Offense is his element. A shooter. Good release. Nose for the net when he is on.
His pace is high end of average. His off the puck detail and effort can be better at times.
Not the kind of player teams depend on in key defensive zone scenarios.
His production has spiked recently. In a 10 games segment from February 12 - March 9th he contributed 4g - 5a - 9pts . Over 50% of his goals have come on the PP.

His role has not changed since arriving at the NHL level. Average TOI has hovered between
17:00 - 19:00 per night
Element is easy to identify. He is threat to produce offensively when he is on his game and moving his feet
When his compete falls off his pace of play becomes an issue ... especially with tracking back the full 200ft and his awareness/detail away from the puck
Logs big minutes at even strength and on the first power play unit
Quick, accurate, hard release from his weak side. He has the ability to get pucks on net in tight areas.
Not the kind of player you want on the ice in key defensive zone scenarios with the game on the line.
