Carson Bjarnason Scouting Reports

Second half of his 2023 season had some ups and downs. Struggled with consistency right to the end of the year at U18 Worlds. When dialed in he positions himself well and uses his size to his advantage. There are times his read / react / lateral push is on time and his length moving side to side result in big stops. Other times he finds himself positioned too high - sometimes outside the paint - and he struggles to get to the back post. Good gloves. At times pucks find him in traffic due to stature. Sitting tall in his butterfly is a work in progress. At times he makes himself small / leaning forward. Solid foundation to build upon. Consistency will be key.

Big body goalie who uses his size to his advantage when he is playing composed / between his posts.
When he gets too high in his - crease and needs to travel further to make back post stops - he can be exposed with his lack of elite lateral quickness.
Good coordination for his stature. Good gloves. Finds pucks in traffic / size advantage
