Not tall, but plenty strong. Never backs down from a physical challenge. Leads all Sabres defenders with (16) hits through five games. Led the Boston Bruins in hits last season (208)
Good skater. His pivot / continuation pace is strong / when opponents dump pucks into his corner he has the agility and quickness to beat them to puck races and clear pucks out of harms way. Leans '2-way D'. Contributes some secondary scoring.
Averaging 16:54 TOI - 15:06 ES - 1:44 PK ... very rarely used on the PP
His detail does range at times. Especially when he runs out of his way to gap up aggressively or engage along the wall / leading to the play being chipped or moved around him and defending from the back side of his opponent. Sometimes less aggression would be wise.
